Why Listen to Your Mother?

The Idea for One Legacy began when Founder Mike Stith began to listen to his own mother tell stories that brought back memories and made her feel good in the last years of her life. He also became aware of how the process of storytelling brought families closer together.

Legacy Sharing is a program that was created to take the experience to care centers and community groups. It provides a safe, enjoyable environment for participants to communicate and share personal memories and real stories.

The LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER Show takes audiences on a “well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering through giving voice to motherhood–in all of its complexity, diversity, and humor.”  Founded by Ann Imig, the productions feature live readings by a cast of local writers in celebration of Mother’s Day.

The shows take place in 39 U. S. cities, and a portion of the proceeds is donated to local charities. In between the shows, the videos can be viewed on their YouTube Channel. A compilation of stories is included in the recently-published book LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER – What She Said Then, What We’re Saying Now.

One Legacy is proud to be a sponsor of the two St. Louis shows that take place on May 9 at St. Luke’s Hospital Auditorium  at 11 AM and 3 PM. To learn more about LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER (LTYM), take a look at their entertaining website.
