What Advice Would I Give to Kids Today? – by Doloris Firkus

Doloris Firkus – Edwardsville IL (Born 1927)

I always wanted to do something in hospitals so I went and studied to be a lab technician. I did my internship in St Louis and that’s where I met my husband who was from Wisconsin. He went to school for radiology. We had 4 children (3 sons and a daughter). We’ve been medical people our whole time together. He worked at the hospital in Highland for 50 years and six months and I worked in the lab, and also the pharmacy for 17 years. I still volunteer there today. We were always taught to treat people the way you wanted to be treated. I’ve had a happy life living that way!
